“I struggled to find a commonality between these two teams beyond the domed stadiums and that may be too expensive an advantage to be widely copied, and then I hit on it. Each of these teams, while built differently, would score very highly in terms of emotional intelligence. Simply put, emotional intelligence (EI) is a 25-year-old academic theory that has its roots in Charles Darwin’s study of species behavior and says in a nutshell that traditional types of intelligence like IQ fail to explain cognitive ability and interpersonal success. Intellect and talent aren’t enough.”
